Crossing the Desert

First day

Marrakech – Agdz (270 km)

Reception at the airport and departure towards Ouarzazate. The road that crosses the High Atlas rises gently to the Tizi-n-Tichka pass at 2260m above sea level. You meet villages and places of commercial exchanges witnessing typical scenes of life in the country. After crossing the pass you reach the Onila valley and the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a magnificent example of fortified architecture, typical of the region. After visiting the village, cross the city of Ouarzazate and continue along the Draa valley, entering the largest palm grove in Morocco until reaching Agdz. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Second day

Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid – Erg Chegaga (250 km)

Breakfast and departure towards the south. In a succession of kasbahs and palm groves you reach Zagora and continue to Tamegroute, a village on the edge of the desert with its “underground” kasbah and the Koranic library. We travel to the village of M’hamid and then go into the desert. Crossing the various types of desert landscapes, the Reg and the Hamada, you will reach the Erg Chegaga, the area with sand dunes up to 300m high, where the tented camp is located. Free time to stroll through the dunes and enjoy the silence and infinity. After sunset, in a magical atmosphere you spend the evening among the scents and flavors of a delicious Moroccan dinner. Dinner and overnight in the tented camp.

Erg Chegaga – Forum Zguid – Taroudant (390 km)

Wake up in time to watch the sun show rising in the dunes. After breakfast we set off to go further into the desert. Crossing the “river of dunes” you reach Lake Iriki and from there you head towards Foum Zguid, the first inhabited center after the desert. After a refreshing stop we continue to Tazenakht, a center famous for the production of carpets, and to Taroudant. The city also called “little Marrakech” is located in the Souss valley and is surrounded by two mountain ranges: the High Atlas to the north and east and the Anti-Atlas to the south. Dinner and overnight in riad.

Taroudant – Marrakech (230km)

Breakfast and departure for Marrakech. Leaving the fertile plain of Taroudant you travel to the mountains until you reach the Tizi n’Test pass. The path is spectacular with wonderful views and a multitude of colors that fill the landscapes. After passing the pass, you descend in altitude towards Marrakech; along the way you meet the Berber villages of red earth, for which time seems to have stopped. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Overnight in riad.

Fifth day

Marrakech

After breakfast, meeting with the authorized guide to start the visit (half day) of the imperial city known as the “red Marrakech” founded by the Almoravides at the end of the 11th century. Discovering historic buildings, gardens and monuments, walking along streets and alleys and admiring the Koutoubia minaret you arrive at the famous Djemaa El Fna square from where, accompanied by music, dance and performances, you enter the lively and colorful souks. After taking leave of the guide, you can continue to explore the medina. Overnight in riad.

Marrakech (departure)

Breakfast and free time to continue visiting the city, go shopping or relax before going to the appointment with the driver for the transfer to the Rak Menara airport in Marrakech where you must arrive at least two hours before the departure time. of the flight.
